I am happy to own a copy of T.M. Griffiths's compendium "Non-Secret Recipes". It's full of recipes for the corner drugstore (and the farmer); mine is the 1910 edition, featuring as an appendix the text of the then just-passed Pure Food and Drug Law. The book is playing hard to find just at the moment, so I can't check whether it has any recipes incorporating anything so new-fangled as Heroin.
